Wellness & Lifestyle Coach

We want to get to know you! Briefly tell us about yourself: Where you came from, where you've been and how you're living your dream?
Since I have been living in North Carolina for 13 years, this is definitely home for me! I moved around growing up, and when I landed in Chapel Hill for college, I fell in love with this state and have been here ever since! I played volleyball at Carolina and majored in Exercise & Sport Science, then worked in the wellness industry for a few years. After my mom set me up on a blind date with my now husband, we set down roots down here in Charlotte and are raising our two children in this beautiful city! Not only do I get to live my dream of raising my babies at home while also making an impact for the world, but I get to help others do the same thing by raising up a community of women who don't have to live in an "either/or" world, but instead create a reality of "and/both."
How do you define success?
Coach John Wooden has always been a huge inspiration for me, so I am going to use his definition of success as well: “Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.”
What did it take to make your dream happen and when did you know you had arrived?
Making it a habit of consistently doing the small things over and over; it doesn't always require a big massive idea or event. I hope I never arrive, because its really all about the journey.
What are you most proud of? Go ahead, boast a little!
My kiddos!
What was your biggest obstacle/fear and what was your turning point?
My biggest obstacle (and I’m going to go out on a limb and say this is true for most people) is controlling the conversation that goes on between my ears. We are often the only thing that holds us back from reaching our goals or becoming the person we are meant to be. I recently heard a business mentor say that being an entrepreneur is 90% mindset and 10% mechanics. Mindset is crucial to success! I think I finally turned the corner on this when I realized how much energy and opportunity I have wasted on worrying and questioning myself. If I put that energy toward actually being productive toward my goals, it would be not only easier but more fun!
What’s the best advice you’d give to a younger you?
Get out of your comfort zone as much as possible.
How do you stay motivated and purposeful when you feel overwhelmed?
Wow, this is definitely a daily thing for me! First, I have to spend some time everyday in prayer to center my heart and mind on what matters most. Breathing and visualization come next, which are amazing tools I learned as an athlete that can be applied to any part of life. Then I blast my “walk out” song.
What is your favorite vice/guilty pleasure/strange habit? Come on now, we all have them!
Eating cookie dough for breakfast!! I have a killer recipe that is secretly healthy, so it’s not so guilty :)
What's the smartest investment you’ve made for yourself?
My health. Without health, it is very difficult to have the time, energy, or money for anything else in life.
What’s MOST important to you right now?
Creating a life and legacy that glorifies God and puts my family first.
Share 1-2 books you've given as gifts:
The Wonderful Things You Will Be
What have you learned to say no to?
Fear--not that I don't feel it, but that when I do, it won't stop me and I will move forward anyway.
What's something most people would never guess about you?
I hoard National Geographics! I've kept every issue for years!
