We want to get to know you! Briefly tell us about yourself: Where you came from, where you've been and how you live your dream (or are working toward it).
After studying psychology and biology in college, I earned my Masters in Marine Biology and studied dolphins, killer whales and coral reef fish. I worked as a marine scientist for a couple years, was offered a big promotion and quit my job to become a self-employed science writer. While I was working as a science writer, I also worked as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, a swim coach, a triathlon coach and a food blogger. As I worked with clients I realized that I could help them more from a mindset perspective and that's when I enrolled in IPEC. I started my coaching business, Find Your Awesome, in 2014 and I started The Find Your Awesome Podcast in 2017. Last year, I discovered Human Design and it felt like coming home. So my business is all about Human Design and Coaching and the podcast and my life is all about play. And triathlon training and racing is a huge part of my daily play. Side note: After living in Maine for 10 years, my husband and I traveled around the country in a small camper for 16 months before putting down roots in Florida.
How do you define success and how do you stay motivated to keep working toward it?
Success is freedom, connection and expansiveness. Success is feeling excited and living a life filled with play.
What’s been your biggest challenge, perceived failure or fear and how did you overcome it?
My biggest lifelong challenge has been being told that I'm doing life wrong: that I should focus on one thing, that I move too fast, that I should focus on strategy and be super specific. Doing inner critic work in coaching school helped me embody my worthiness and learning about my Human Design allowed me to recognize that my natural way of doing things is perfect. It's exactly what my soul chose for me.
What’s the best advice you’d give to a younger you?
You're uniqueness is gold. Keep going. Keep sparkling. Keep playing. Follow, the joy.
Share a book, quote and/or idea that's impacted you the most:
Human Design has had a giant impact on my life. I've learned that I'm here to play, to carve my own path through play and joy, that strategy and specificity block my flow and that I'm here to be intuitive with others and connect with others.
What are you most proud of? Go ahead, boast a little!
I'm the 2019 International Distance Aquabike National Champion. After some challenging triathlons at Nationals and Worlds where I experienced really intense nerve pain in my heel, I decided to cap off the season at Aquabike Nationals (Swim-Bike) and I won!
Share a time when a perceived failure was actually a blessing in disguise.
My soul likes to show me things through my body. Every single physical challenge I've had, including stress fractures, pneumonia and this current nerve pain, has been such a gift. Each one of these experiences has nudged me closer and closer to being my true self.
What's the smartest investment you’ve made for yourself?
It's a tie: IPEC and Human Design training.
What’s MOST important to you right now?
